[Column] A New Relationship Between Creators and Fans Realized with the NFT-Based Digital Membership Card 'ONEFAN'
Product updates

A new era fan platform that connects fans and creators, released with great anticipation by Zaiko, is the new NFT-based digital membership card "ONEFAN".
What is different from the previous fan club membership cards?
What kind of new relationship will it create between creators and fans?
The editorial team went to talk with the business development department!
What is ONEFAN?
──This may sound sudden, but what is "ONEFAN"?
First, as Zaiko's philosophy, there is the idea that technology can realize the success of creators and directly connect creators and fans through D2F (Direct to Fan). Keeping this in mind, let's talk.
For example, most creators, whether musicians or DJs, do not earn revenue directly from fans but instead receive money from clubs, live houses, or sponsors if they have sponsored events. The shape wherein creators earn revenue directly from fans is called D2F (Direct to Fan).

D2F and traditional monetization
And regarding ONEFAN, there is the idea of "Why not separate followers and core fans as attributes?"
In today’s social media, having many followers is often seen as desirable. However, is this really the ideal state? The existence of "core fans" becomes increasingly trivial in relation to the number of followers.
Here, we have divided the four challenges that creators face in the digital realm.
Four Digital Challenges Faced by Creators

"SNS ≒ Monetization"
Updating social media requires substantial labor and effort, yet connecting it to revenue is challenging."Not Going Viral"
Even if information is disseminated through social media and media, in freemium platforms, it gets buried under a multitude of other information."Fan Analysis"
It's difficult to identify who among the fan club members are core fans. Additionally, since revenue can only be generated from a certain subscription fee, membership cancellations directly lead to revenue loss."Sustainability"
Daily updates are required on social media and YouTube. If creators are not suited for that platform, they can become exhausted.
These challenges can be solved with ONEFAN.
Challenges that can be resolved with ONEFAN - Monetization through three methods

In terms of "monetization," ONEFAN allows for revenue generation through three methods.
Subscription (fixed rate) = Ongoing revenue
Fan-to-fan trading = Variable revenue
Revenue methods integrated with Zaiko's functionalities
Additionally, it is possible to sell tickets, merchandise, digital content, etc., in the form of deals, allowing for various revenue methods.
Regarding the notion of "not going viral," there will be no hindrance with ONEFAN.
Fans are structured like the Innovator's Theory. With ONEFAN, a strategy can be implemented to carefully engage with fans, cultivate core fans, and then disseminate information to the masses.
Concerning “analysis,” fan data can be analyzed by serial number, allowing for the visualization of highly engaged fans. It is somewhat similar to statistics; when a certain percentage of people gather, some exhibit core behavior. Those individuals genuinely want to experience new things. Creators can take action towards them, leading to a more robust economic sphere.
ONEFAN is the latest type of fan club
──When I heard about NFTs, I thought it was a new concept, but it seems to return to relationships that resemble those before SNS and the internet.
Indeed, it may be said that it is the latest type of fan club. In the past, fan clubs had membership cards, newsletters, and the ability to purchase tickets in advance. Even after moving to digital formats, not much changed for a while. Then, online platforms like online salons appeared, making it easier to create one's subscriptions over the past five years.
By combining the functionalities of NFTs, ONEFAN seems to be liberated from standardized service offerings.
──ONEFAN is the latest type of fan club! Specifically, what can be done with it?
In previous fan clubs, only standardized services could be provided, but ONEFAN allows for extremely fluid service offerings.
Methods of utilization can be changed according to the scale and phase of the creator.
For example, let's first turn followers into core fans and get them to register for ONEFAN, creating opportunities for revenue. Let's cultivate the enthusiasm of fans = "fandom." From there, we will visualize the super fans.
I've prepared such case studies.
Case Study
Streaming Creator's Use of ONEFAN: From Followers to Core Fans

Example of a streaming creator's use of ONEFAN
Updated YouTube every three days and social media daily. The number of followers steadily increased, and social media seemed to be gaining momentum. However, in reality, they struggled to monetize and it was difficult to make a living as a creator.
At that time, they started using ONEFAN, prioritizing information dissemination to core fans who were paying for ONEFAN.
As a result, although the number of subscribers was smaller compared to followers, core fans actively shared unseen content on social media, gradually increasing the number of ONEFAN IDs.
By visualizing fan loyalty, the value of the creator was redefined, and direct sales revenue from fans increased, allowing them to create a sustainable income as a creator.
Cafe's Use of ONEFAN: Membership Certificate

Example of a cafe's use of ONEFAN
They wanted to increase the visit frequency of regular customers. Therefore, they started ONEFAN with a plan for 100 yen per month, offering a coupon for 100 yen off coffee when customers presented their ONEFAN ID.
As a result, customers who previously visited only once a week began coming twice a week. While coffee sales decreased by 200 yen, total revenue increased.
Moreover, due to the good reputation of loyal customers, new customers also increased, resulting in higher store revenue.
As the number of 100 yen monthly fans increased, they created a 500 yen monthly plan of ONEFAN, which then allowed core fans to acquire ONEFAN IDs, generating an innovative cycle.
Idol Group's Use of ONEFAN: Creating Monetization Opportunities

Example of an idol group's use of ONEFAN
With the increase in ONEFAN IDs, the idol group began selling various events and content aimed at core fans who hold ONEFAN IDs.
They provided diverse services such as handshake events, live streaming, video messages, and merchandise through Zaiko's system, creating a cycle that allows for more refined creativity.
As a result, it also led to acquiring new fans, increasing the value of ONEFAN IDs and enhancing fan enthusiasm.
──Looking at it this way, it seems like a lot can be done. Fans and creators can build a healthy relationship.
Absolutely. ONEFAN is a subscription service, but until now, subscriptions have been a numbers game. The business model structure has always been aimed at having more registered users, whether it is 100, 200, or 1000, for higher profitability and stability.
However, ONEFAN has the potential to succeed even if there is just one millionaire among the 100 users. That’s the strength of direct revenue.
With advertising revenue or sales revenue, one is inevitably influenced by the market and media.
However, with ONEFAN, creators and fans are connected through an NFT protocol based on a blockchain system. There, mutual agreements are made on "this deal has this value," leading to the emergence and development of unique economic circles.
I believe one of the attractions of ONEFAN lies in its distinction from the standardized service offerings of traditional subscriptions.
About the Trade Function
──What is the trade function that characterizes ONEFAN?
A function allowing members to trade IDs with serial numbers was launched in February 2022. Through this trade function, creators can activate the enthusiasm of their fan community.
NFT trades create added value that cannot be gained through existing fan community services or subscription services.

Fans can choose IDs with their preferred numbers and make trade offers by suggesting their desired purchase amounts. The owner of the offered ID receives a notification of the offers via a bidding function and can decide whether to accept or decline the offer.
If the trade is successful, 90% of the trade amount goes to the owner, 7% to the creator, and 3% to the platform.
By attaching different perks to each number, creators can incite trading among fans, further enhancing the community's enthusiasm and clarifying potential core fans.
The Future of ONEFAN
──Please share any future prospects you may have.
Artists like Kiyoharu and former professional wrestler Genichiro Tenryu have opened official accounts. I look forward to seeing creators like them, as well as artists, brands, and shops, utilizing this service more widely.
It’s rare to have a service that combines subscriptions with NFTs, and I believe there are many things that cannot be understood just by reading articles. Please do check out the official website!
