ZAIKO: It's the fifth year since Spicy Garlic was formed, but they already won at 'Arabiki Dan' and 'NHK New Comedy Award' three years ago. Has it been smooth sailing from the formation of the duo until now?

Katayama: No, we didn't achieve any results in the first year after forming the duo. We lost in the first round of the King of Conte. Both John and I had better results when we partnered with different partners before, but as soon as we became Spicy Garlic, we fell in the first round, so we were very anxious.
