Zaiko is redefining live event technology in Japan and beyond. We build tools that empower creators and organizers to host and monetize experiences from live streaming to ticketing, while providing fans with seamless access to events they love.
Role overview
We’re looking for a Product Designer who’s confident in both UX and UI — someone who can translate ideas into elegant, functional, and localized experiences across the Zaiko platform. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to shape features that improve usability, consistency, and visual quality for both Japanese and global users.
This role is for a designer with solid experience who can balance hands-on execution with product thinking, contributing meaningfully to the design direction while continuing to refine their craft.
Responsibilities
Own the design of specific product areas, ensuring solutions are user-centered, scalable, and aligned with business goals
Translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and polished, considering various edge cases and states
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, operations, and other designers to define problems and deliver clear, intuitive solutions
Use and maintain the design system to ensure visual consistency and efficient collaboration across teams.
Apply UX writing and localization best practices for our global users
Conduct user testing or collaborate on research, integrating findings into design iterations
Communicate design rationale clearly and ensure smooth handoff
Stay current with design trends, accessibility standards, and emerging tools or workflows
Requirements
Conversational Japanese
Proficient Figma skills (variables, tokens, auto layout, components, design systems)
Knowledge of responsive design
Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality designs
Solid understanding of UX writing and localization best practices
Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Work style
Confident working cross-functionally with other designers, product managers, engineers, sales, operations, and leadership
Open to feedback and iteration while maintaining ownership of outcomes
Proactive, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple initiatives at once
Attention to detail and eagerness to learn
Comfortable coming into the office occasionally (about twice a week for team collaboration)
Nice-to-haves
Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, HTML, and JavaScript fundamentals
Understanding of analytics, A/B testing, and data-informed design
Experience with live events, streaming platforms, or ticketing services
Experience designing for multilingual or internationalized (i18n) products
